Is advertising our kind of websites allowed on google adwords? I was sent a voucher by my host, so I thought 'what the heck' and signed up. I logged in to find my account suspended, but no useful reasons as to why...

You more than likely over used the words free and copyrighted words like iPhone or iPad. They may have also associated your site with a scam as employees may be un-educated within the freebie industry.

Adwords are very odd. You see hundreds of ads with iPhone in them, such as an ad from Orange etc, but when I/we do it it shows up as "banned" or "accepted (limited)" because it's apparently a copyrighted words so can't be used in ads... I just don't get it!

(although so long as you words the adverts right you'll be fine. Just spent a free £75 Adwords voucher on about 250 clicks - not many I know - but have certainly had some greens from it! So it's worth sticking at it!

nah, its because your site is likely to be considered a gateway site. You say your account was suspended? That usualy something more sinister than a site type..... you should get an email explaining why.

I've had these vouchers in the past, always ignored them, only recently being tempted, but now?.... maybe not so much.

Are they transferable? Could you flog them on eBay or something...though wouldn't be surprised if they aren't.

i fail to see the point in selling them though, as people sell them on Fiverr for, well, a fiver!

Answered your own question really...
Orange are a registered company with a legit reason to be using the trademark. Together with permission from Apple to use it.

Think I got around it once by using the term 'i Phone', not too sure if it would work now though.

That's ridiculous, if I make iPhone cases I don't need Apple's permission to advertise the fact that I sell 'iPhone' cases.
