![]() | Position in rankings to be successfulHey, First of all, I know the question I'm about is subjective, but I suppose I'm looking for answers in a pretty general sense. So, where do you think a website needs to be in Google rankings to get success? For example, anywhere on the first page? Top 5? Top 3? First? The reason I ask and want to discuss this is my website ranks on the first page for a couple of terms but mostly between the 5th and 10th position. So far my stats show a pretty high number of impressions but not much traffic/click-throughs. So I was wondering what other people's thoughts/experiences on this matter are? Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

| What to put... | Generally around 1-3, place one getting the most obviously. Being down the page on page 1 may get you some hits however not a great deal.

![]() | Thanks for the responses, it just goes to show how difficult it can be to be successful in search engines. As I'm sure most people know, going after highly competitive keywords from the off nowadays is not usually the best idea, instead it's probably better to get into the top 3 for some less competitive keywords and work from there.
