80,000 BackLinks

What is a backlink? Is it a link to your site from another?
If it is, i heard some people say they have 80,000 backlinks?
How is that possible to set-up 80,000 blogs? (why are blogs more likely to get traffic than your site)

Then people say index with google? I'm guessing that means it's been put onto google?

It's all confusing if you could help thanks

You could in theory get 80,000 backlinks off one blog.
Get one sitewide footer or sidebar link and every page that gets indexed will create a backlink for you.

What do you think everyone here has their site in their sig for. Do what you want on your own forum but yes, each post that gets indexed created a backlink.

Do you honestly think I have 14,000 indexed backlinks from eXceem? Very unlikely! However they all help.

What you want is lots of good quality backlinks... and how you get them is by doing a little research on google as we're not going to give you the answers (especially as you're potential competition!)

Yes they do, but they start to decrease in value after you have thousands of them from the same site... best to spread them across different sites to get maximum impact.

I've been doing SEO daily and backlinks now and then for about 2 months. I rank 2nd when you search "free xbox 360 slim" but I still get like 1 red every 2 weeks. I don't know why but I still do SEO.

Every user's search results are different. Google remembers what site's you end up on and for what keywords. So although your site may show up as 2nd, it's not even on the first page for me (co.uk and com).

80,000 backlinks is sure to get you penalised unless it is done over a long period of time, also some blogs are nofollow, bear that in mind too!

I heard that if we search in private mode, we can get better results, seeing if our website is really on ranked as we see.

Not sure if this is on the public version, but if you get Google Chrome Beta, then you can use multiple incognito browsing, which means that you can use multiple windows which each have their own cache. Then it means that everytime you load one, Google doesn't have any information about your previous browsing history, and so will show a fresh search results page.

Also it's useful if you want to login in to the same website with multiple logins. Such as if you had two facebook accounts?!
