Create a 'Non Spammy Site'?

Hi, I have contacted google about getting my site ranked on google. Unfortunately, several google helpers ahve told me that 'spammy' sites will not be ranked on google.

Is this because of my referral link?

How do I make my site 'non spammy' and allow google to rank it?

Thanks,

Denys

Have a look at one of mine (in sig)... you don't see any referral links!

I can't see you site but either replace the ref code with regular "sign up" text linking to your ref link or use an HTML file with a redirect to your ref link and link to that!

Make sense?!!

Hi MJ10,

What a great tip. I'm assuming you've set up an re-direct for this to work?

A couple of concerns though - there is an article about making it look like the website you have linked to is actually your own website - surely that is against FJ rules?

Another concern, it says that masking links (having uglyurl.com/12343431412 look like yoursite.com/signup ) may confuse the tracking system that some affiliates use and you may not get the completed referrals.

Any closure on this topic would be great

I'm guessing the yoursite.com/signup would be a redirect URL, so it would just redirect to uglyurl.com/12343431412.

Yes, I think I'll stick with the redirect too.

A site is not a spam site just because it is an affiliate site. If this were true then sites like comparethemarket.com and gocompare.com would be penalised. These sites are affiliate sites but they provide some value to the searcher. Keep this in mind by building a site with the best information and other useful content you can.
