hi, i have created my website (i am not sure if i should post the link to it) and have been having problems getting traffic. I have managed to somehow get 3 visits on saturdays but pretty much none on any other days. Please give me some tips on getting traffic.

backlinks are you friends, find 'do follow' forums and the like, and put your website in your sig. do it for a while and you should start to see more traffic (could take a few months or longer, depending on how much time you put into it)

Some great tips there NeonLord, but just in case you're unaware of what a 'do follow' forum is, it's one that basically tells search engines to scan the site for links in the content (like in the signatures) and add it to their database. You can usually check whether a forum tell search engines to do this by checking out their robots.txt. You can usually look at it by visiting 'http://www.domain-name-here.com/robots.txt' - hope this helps.

Good question and great answer.This is some useful information for people just launching there first site.I myself am about to have my website done.buying the domain and all that good stuff.Is it good to have a blog to coincide with your website?

Just a quickie, before jumping straight into backlinks etc, I'd first learn basic SEO, which should also teach you about backlinking.

Their is a lot of information on this forum regarding SEO and backlinking, use the search function and i'm sure some pages will pop up.

Don't expect over night results either, just keep at it and you will reach your goals.

yeah, i would expect to be doing it for a few months be you see much happening to be honest...unless you get lucky with some really decent backlinks.

Has anyone done any research as to the percentage of hits that a web site receives to the number of people that actually go on to complete an offer? I am just putting together my own page and would be interested to see if anyone has any credible statistics. I understand that this is hit and miss (a lot of the time), however I don't want to waste valuable time on SEO if its not going to be successful.
