Changing your URL - is it easy?

I have a few questions.
If i wanted to change my domain name from freeipadforyou.co.uk to something else - would it be easy?
I understand I should use a 301 redirect to redirect traffic going to my old url to my new one.
But what about my search engine rankings? Will I have to start again completely?
And i currently have web hosting with 123 reg, will i have to pay for new hosting or can I use the hosting package ive already paid for?

Thanks.

Yeah it would be a case of using .htaccess to 301 redirect all traffic to the new domain, though I have seen conflicting articles about what it does for SEO, personally I would say don't do it, and if you want to start on another domain, just create it and run the 2 sites side by side.

Not sure how 123 work their multiple domains, best thing would be to contact their support department - its what they are there for!

Thanks for the information Jon! I think I might just run another site.
I'll contact them now!
