![]() ![]() ![]() | URL SEO AdviceHi folks. I'm looking at a few domains that are currently available, but I'm not sure which variation of words and dashes are best for SEO. Which of these structures would be best for SEO? KEY: One, Two, Three, Four will be the targetted keywords. one-twothree-four.com one-two-three-four.com onetwothreefour.com

![]() | Yup, you are best to find domains without hyphens. Google likes sites that are accessible and useful to humans. Hyphens are a pain to type and remember and so google would rather you didn't use hyphens. Also think about how people will remember and talk about the domain too, someone will say hey go to onetwothreefour.com, they won't say got to one hyphen two hyphen three hyphen four.com. | Free The Gadgets | Yep, have been reading up on this recently and hyphens are the worst option. Definately go for onetwothreefour.com! |

This raises a 2nd question now. If I have onetwothreefour.com, and someone searches for one and three, would they both be highlighted in the domain as recognised keywords? This is why I thought hyphens were better as it seperates the keywords.

![]() | They get picked up as separate words without hyphens. Example: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...=&oq=&gs_rfai= Notice how it picks up just the word 'Freebie' in the domain names? Last edited by VeryGeek; 19-03-10 at 02:03 PM.. |

Google will pick out the keywords in a domain anyway so no need for hyphens. The only thing they will do is make the site look spammy. Plus I think if they were both going head to head the one without hyphens would rank better in google!

![]() ![]() ![]() | So going on what's been said here, would ps3forfree.org.uk be better than playstation3-for-free.com?

If you wanted the "ps3forfree" term, instead of ps3forfree.org.uk I would stick to the .com domain but add a word on the end... for example. ps3forfreeonline.com. You still have the phrase in the domain name, then you can put PS3 for Free as your site title!

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well those are 2 domains I own, and I had a site set up on ps3forfree.org.uk. But I've recently set up the site to use the .com domain instead, and have redirected all the backlinks from ps3forfree to point to it. It's a bit of an experiment, so I'll see how it works out.
