I do it all myself.

My dad for his business though is paying someone, and seeing few results. So not necessarily the best way to go. Since I've got back from uni me and him have been exchanging website knowledge which has been pretty cool! I'm getting a few tips too! plus as he's doing it for his his full time job he's passing on a few things he's paid for that I would never normally afford! YES!! :P

Anyway... i mainly do all my backlinks myself!

There any tutorials anywhere on BackLinking and good practice?
Also where do you find are the best sites to get BackLinks from - I have 2 days off work now and want to do some SEO work for a site or two...

Backlinking by definition isn't good practice. We all do it, but the whole reason search engines base their rankings on number of/quality of/range of incoming links is because their algorithms work in a way that determines helpfulness of results based on popularity.
A helpful and therefore popular website (for example bbc.co.uk) will never need to build its own backlinks, as the content it has is what people want to see, therefore other websites link to it. In fact, lots of other websites link to it, these websites will vary in quality from one of mine or yours, to other news sites and high qulaity, respected and well known sites. This 'natural' incoming links will point to a variety of pages, using a variety of anchor texts.
Google (or other search engine) sees what is going on and decides that due to the number of incoming links, from a range of sources, with a number of different anchors - this site must be popular, and therefore helpful to somebody searching for certain terms. the result of this is that bbc.co.uk will be returned at the top of the search results.

When we build our own backlinks, we should try to emulate this natural link building. So: don't point every backlink to the same page,
try to vary your anchor text,
build links from a variety of sources,
build links at a steady pace (don't do 100 in 1 day, then none for 3 weeks, then 100 in 1 day etc),
don't use automatic tools such as Xrumer,
don't spam your links

that's all for now, I'm at work
