![]() | Website Problems - Please HelpJust so you know: I don't know anything about websites/hosting etc. So please speak as if you're talking to a 5 year old. I'm having some problems with getting a website up and running. It isn't finished yet, but I've done the homepage so i though I might as well get something uploaded. I've used dreamweaver for the design, and have all the files saved somewhere. I've got my domain from freeola - freeiphone4all.info, but then there was some problem with getting the files uploaded because it wanted a dial up connection specific to freeola or something? Is their anyway I can use freeola with a wireless connection? So then i signed up to 000webhost and messed around there for a bit, with no success. If anyone could get me out of this mess I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks Cameron |

![]() | Ok, I'll do my best. I'm not sure what to do about the dial up connection problem, you should be able to use any internet connection, even wireless. If you use 000webhost, here's what you have to do. You need to make sure that your freeola nameservers (the adress that tells the domain name where to send you to) ( something like ns01.freeola.com and ns02.freeola.com) are changed to be 000webhost nameservers (ns01.000webhost.com and ns02.000webhost.com or something very similar). I'll post again in a second with more info. Last edited by elliotknell; 26-11-09 at 08:33 PM.. |

![]() | Ok, this is what you need to do to get your files uploaded to 000wh. First, log in to your account. You should see your domain name, (did you get the nameservers thing to work?) click on "go to CPanel" next to it. Once you're there, scroll down until you see the blue folder icon that says "file manager". Hit it. *note* none of this will work correctly until you've set up the domain name, so if you have trouble with that then tell me. |

![]() | FTP is easier, but more complicated for beginners. when you get to the uploader, go to the "public_html" file. this is where all of your files will be uploaded to. To tell you what to do next, I'm going to need you to tell me how all of your sites files, including html, css, and images, and whatever else are organized. Like how are they arranged in files, etc. |

![]() | I don't know about the 24 hours thing, did it say that on 000wh or on freeola? It only took me a few minutes to get my nameservers up on my 000wh account, but my domain was from godaddy. When you go to your freeola domain account they should have some place to enter your nameservers, which need to be ns01.000webhost.com and ns02.000webhost.com. That tells your domain to redirect to your site's servers. public_html is your main directory, which means that all or your files that go there : freeiphone4all.info/ whateverfile / If you coded the site with your images in a seperate folder, you will need to make a new directory (hit "new dir") within public_html with that folders exact name, and then upload your images into that sub-directory. Confused? Last edited by elliotknell; 26-11-09 at 09:13 PM.. |

![]() | Ok then, I guess It should be online within a day or so. In the mean time, you can upload all of your files. Have you done that yet? Last edited by elliotknell; 26-11-09 at 09:39 PM.. |

![]() | should I just upload them in any order - pictures and .html ? |

| Free Tibet! | Yep any order, just keep them in the correct folders. Oh and if you see an "Up" folder again, it means go back to the folder that contains the folder that you are in. For example if you were in My Documents on your computer, then clicked into My Pictures, "Up" would mean going back to My Documents.

![]() | It works!! Except the banner for some reason. If I edit the original files that I've uploaded, will the website update automatically, or will I have to re-upload the files after I make a change? please give comments and improvements - i know some of the picture are missing freeiphone4all.info btw - does the .info or .co.uk bit on the end have an impact on SEO - or are the .com's the most expensive because they are the most well known?
