Recommended Hosting Providers

I have seen alot of threads recently on new members asking what web hosting to use. You can find a overview of the different types of hosting out there in my hosting explained article.

Where to purchase a domain name
Recommended web hosting providers
It is important to remember when you purchase a domain name, you are in effect leasing it for a period of time, 2 years for any domain ending in .uk and multiples of 1 year for .com domains. It is important that you renew it before it expires, as otherwise you may loose your domain name.

alexjames is a jewel in the rough
I've used both HostGator and 123 Reg in the past for my hosting.

In my experience, HostGator is miles better. Great Customer Support, and really good prices as well!

But, I guess you should choose the service that suits your needs.

I usually use OVH to buy my domains, they've always been great. Though I used GoDaddy to buy a few today.

Just trying to work out what I want to do with hosting so thanks for the post.

Indeed, there are some better value providers out there, but value often comes at the expense of quality of components used in the servers, quality of the bandwidth (some people offer unlimited bandwidth, but the actual bandwidth is to slow) or the customer service, so I tried to pick the ones that are most suited for newbies to web hosting, but are of a high enough quality.

Fanaticalvps.com is good... Might be harder to use than others, but it's really good :P

Personally, I like Hosterbox. Their cheapest plan is $1.49/mo with like a domain price of $12/yr or so. I'm using them for about two websites right now (not freebie related... yet). Plus, you can make 65% lifetime commission on all refs.

Hosterbox Home :: Web Hosting, Managed Shared, Reseller, VPS Hosting

I think you just got ripped off a bit. If you try and leave the page they offer you a better deal .

Researched hostgator for a while now and have suddenly came across 123-reg and am now stuck between them. Any tips? This is my first attempt at this so I'm at the basics. Do they offer the same way hostgator is linked to wordpress and you just download it from the control panel?

I would prefer HostGator over 123-Reg but it's up to you.

Well in all honesty the £8 was including vat as they show the price excluding vat

I can't exactly remember how much it was now tbh but it was cheap with the databases which are included which I need for my site as this is the top package I'm on about
