The more the better, to count as backlinks, they have to be indexed by Google, meaning that the Google 'spiders' crawl the site where the link is one, see your link and follow it to your website.

There is a lot of debate about backlinks from the same sites/forums, which will all come from the same IP address of course. It's not all about the number of links, the quality counts too.

I'd agree with that (not that I'm good at it!!)

20 links from 20 blogs is better than 20 links from the same blog.

I have another question about backlinks.

Site example.com/forum has a very high PR. However if you check the PR of some of the threads they have PR 0. So does it make a difference if your link is in a thread that has 0 PR but comes from a site with high PR.

Should you try to post in popular threads with higher PR instead?

If you want a more accurate way to check backlinks, I personally use the Yahoo Site Explorer: Site Explorer - Yahoo! Site Explorer

However, remember that this counts in NoFollow links as backlinks also.

If you post enough on that blog (without spamming), it might have a top comments/recent comments box that has your link on the homepage.

No, they don't. It's the web crawler that does it.

I've just been trying to comment on a blog, and I have typed out a considered, thoughtful paragraph, and when I press submit comments, it comes up as a wordpress error, saying slow down you are commenting too fast? anyone have any thoughts on this?

yes I believe you still get a backlink, and what you are looking for is google to see the link, not necessarily people

I havent had the time to do any link building recently, so just got myself Senuke. Going to test it out, hopefully Itll get me some links or itll get me blacklisted! Worth a shot though!

any form of auto blog posting will get you askimet banned, if your posting say 500 post's to blogs, each and everyone would have to have unique content and keywords used in the anchor.
if you are not already banned the best and safest way is to manual post on blogs and try reply to the OP with good info.

senuke is a powerfull tool. use it the right way and your rankings can fly.. however. use it wrong and you could end up banned by google altogether
