SEO Tip: Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)

After reading a post about a lack of SEO tips on the forum, I thought I would give some valuable input. This SEO technique is not really a basic technique, it would be classified as maybe advanced.

Google Semantically Related Words & Latent Semantic Indexing Technology | SEO Book.com

Basically with technology and A.I. progressing as much as it is, Google is not one to see it pass by, in fact for quite some time, and as far as I am aware, Google is still putting a lot of emphasis into a technique known as Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI).

Google is getting smarter and trying to find new ways of matching the right content to bring to the user other than just backlinks. LSI is also Googles way of combating link builders who aren't very experienced.

You can find out almost everything you need to know about it by reading the article I have linked to above.

Hope this helps

Basically Google is smarter than most think, it's not just about getting specific links back to your webpage, you need to take heed that Google is smart, it knows what words are similiar. For example, take this search on Google.com for "playstation 3":

Google

Notice that the keyword "PS3" is also highlighted as a match for your search term

I noticed this the other day for results with my site. PS3 was being highlighted along with Playstation 3 for the free playstation 3 results. Interesting and gave that page a skim read for now, looks interesting, will give it another read later thanks!

Latent semantic analysis (LSA) is a technique in natural language processing, in particular in vectorial semantics, of analyzing relationships between a set of documents and the terms they contain by producing a set of concepts related to the documents and terms.

LSA was patented in 1988 (US Patent 4,839,853) by Scott Deerwester, Susan Dumais, George Furnas, Richard Harshman, Thomas Landauer, Karen Lochbaum and Lynn Streeter. In the context of its application to information retrieval, it is sometimes called Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI).
