![]() | Which phone? So I am due an upgrade soon and I am not sure what to get, I was wondering if you guys have had one of these phones or know someone who does and can share any real life stuff (it's all well and good playing with a phone in a shop but its crap when you load it up with apps and it slows right down) Here are my choices: Samsung Galaxy S II Samsung Galaxy Note Motorola Razr Droid iPhone 4s Suggestions for others are also appreciated.

| What to put... | Have a friend who has the Samsung Galaxy S II and loves it, some may argue it's better than the iPhone as it is faster, better spec ect. It's down to personal preference. Used to have the old Razr and had no problems, motorola seems a good make of phone but can't say i have had experience of the new model.

![]() | I have heard good things about the S2 as well but EVERYONE in my family has it, so its kind of putting me off (long story as to why) the Razr I do like, it seems though no one has it anywhere for me to play with.

![]() | as ryan mentioned it comes down to preference... i dont think i would be able to part with my iphone just because everything that I do revolves around using it... it did become a little too overrated in my opinion.... there are much better phones from a technological perspective, but what hold apply together is itunes and all the apps, thats what keeps them on the top of the list for phones. just an opinion... |

| Romper Stomper | I've just stepped into the smartphone arena with an iPhone 4s. Previously the best phone I owned was an LG Viewty (sad I know...) so I can't really compare anything else. I was a little apprehensive about moving from a simple phone like the LG to another operating system, another different menu system and a whole new mobile experience but y'know what... Love it. There is no 'menu' to speak of, the settings all come under one tab and are easy enough for a 10 year old to work out.. Everything else works off a desktop icon. I had the phone sussed out in 20 minutes and everything from updating and installing apps to data transfer is as simple as plug the phone into your computer and use iTunes. Doddle. If you want to do a certain task then go find an app, there are thousands to look through, and more often than not there is a free one that will do what you want. This is the easiest device i've ever had to use and I have no plans or thoughts of moving away from it in the foreseeable future. It works, nothing about it has for one minute made me think twice. No explanation for it. It just works.

| Romper Stomper | The only thing I find about the iPhone 4s is it has a pretty poor battery life but again, I don't know what other smartphones are like for battery. I'm a pretty light user and after the honeymoon period was over when I was playing with it all the time (oo'er missus...) and it settled down into normal use I find that I have to charge it at least every night. I need to have it on charge overnight so that it comes off the lead when I go to work (5.45 am) and it's back on charge with a flat battery by 11 at night.

| What to put... | iPhones can have bad or poor battery life depends on what you have going on it. Generally most smartphones will only last 2-3 days, but more than one! Cruelworld what do you have enabled. Emails, bluetooth, wifi etc.? If you have these on and you don't use them then turn it off and it will save battery life. Also, set the brightness setting to automatic to save battery life too!

![]() | @ryan every smartphone that i ever used had s**ty battery life when you compare them to your regular nokia or samsung... the whole point of a smart phone is for it to be used with various applications and sometimes at the same time. @cruelworld i had that same prob with my last iphone what i did mess up on is i kept overcharging it, in turn decreasing the amount of charge... i had to change the battery and it started working fine but now i dont leave it charging the whole night... if u ever noticed apple products charge very quick, so as soon as i see 100% i unplug it (if i dont pass out before that....) |

| free-gadgets.co.nr | Hmm.. I have a Galaxy S II (I'm writing this post from the same), and I'll have to say, it was my best decision ever. It's not because I'm an Android fan boy or something. I've currently overclocked my phone to 1.6 gHz, and also, it's running on Android 4.0, which has many cool features like face unlock, Android beam, and super cool UI. I simply don't like iPhones because of their simplicity. Another thing is NFC, but I doubt whether the UK version had it or not. The Galaxy Note is damn huge for my preference. Plus, it's battery life is terrible. Motorola phones don't really have much support from developers. I wouldn't get them. So, here's something from an Android geek's point of view..

![]() | Why not to choose the latest Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Plus it comes with the new Android SO version, 4.0 ICS

Agree about the battery life, but I have no problem chucking the iPhone onto charge overnight (I need to anyway as I use the SleepCycle app to monitor my sleep and wake me up at the optimum time... it really works!) I'm a heavy iPhone user and usually find I have at least 20% battery left at the end of each day. (I have the 4 not the 4S though)

| Currently: Moderating! | Sleep Cycle alarm clock It does work! It measure your sleeping movements as well as sets off your chosen alarm (within a set time period) at the moment you are most awake. So if you set you alarm for 7am with a 30min time period then it will wake you up either at the best time in that 30 minutes, or at 7! It's brilliant and I use it most nights now. Here's an example of last nights sleep: ![]()

| What to put... | How exactly does it measure your sleep and when your most awake?

| Currently: Moderating! | Have a look at the link. When you are in deep sleep you don't move around much... when you are in a light sleep you move around more. Therefore when waking you up it will set off the alarm at the point you are most awake. It does this using the accelerometer in the iPhone to record you sleeping movements. You can also set anything from your playlist as an alarm, so I have a song that starts off fairly quiet and gets more up tempo so the snooze function slowly wakes you up! It's nice to get up on the right side of bed most mornings!
