Anyone Rooted An Android...

Hey guys ,

just wondering if anyone had ever rooted an android phone. Specifically a htc desire s but I just had a quick few questions (that probably sound ridiculous).

1) Where can I download custom ROM's

2) What are the risks?

3) If I had to take it back to the shop could I make it look like nothing had ever been done to it?

1. this was answered above
2. brick your phone
3. you have to make a nandroid backup and if something wrong happens you just restore it and it should like before

I've rooted my phone countless number of times, and also bricked it a few times. People say you can't reclaim your warranty after bricking, but I've given my phone to the service center many times and also received the phone back with a replace motherboard.

As OJ said, all custom ROMs can be found on XDA Forums.

If something happens to your phone, the best excuse that people use is:

"I was updating my phone, and all of a sudden, I dunno why, it switched off and never ever started again."

That's the magical statement!

And yeah, make sure you use SuperOneClick for rooting. It makes the process damn easy.

There are also a few rooting apps which make it possible to root and unroot directly from your device, removing the need for a computer.
