| Mini Mac | Approaching a Company for DiscountEvening all, May be a stab in the dark here BUT, has anybody ever approached a company to receive discount for a club/website? Basically my motorsport club have decided to approach motorsport related businesses to see about getting club discounts i.e. 10% off orders. Anybody got a template of an email they have used? Many thanks, Dan

| Mini Mac | Just a quick thing I have fired together: Good evening, My name is Dan Hurst and I am contacting you on behalf of West Cumbria Motorsport Club, with the proposal of setting up a club discount scheme. West Cumbria Motorsport Club is a very active motor club in the North West, with over 120 members and counting. We are also one of the motorclubs which run the Malcolm Wilson Rally and the Greystoke Stages Rally. As a bonus for our members, we are working hard to set up a number of discount schemes with businesses like your own. If you are able to provide us with a discount on your range of products we will include an advert in our monthly club newsletter which goes out to all our club members. Yours sincerely, Dan Hurst WCMC Committee Member & Website Editor.

| What to put... | Personally i would edit a few things to make it sound more professional. Like i wouldn't mention other companies, from what i have learnt, companies like to feel special and that you provide unique traffic, also other small little bits.

![]() | I don't think that template looks all that bad, perhaps a little tweaking here and there, for instance: "If you are able to provide us with a discount on your range of products we will include an advert in our monthly club newsletter which goes out to all our club members." Might be better as, "In return for a members-only discount on your range of products, we would be happy to feature your business in our club newsletter, which is read by all members on a monthly basis." Really, you want to look honest, friendly, and you need to make it clear what you want, and what they'll get in return. |

As long as what you want is clear. With cold calling emails try not to make it too long winded as this may make them ignore it. Get straight to the point, be as polite and honest as possible and I'm sure they'll be receptive to what you have to offer.

| Romper Stomper | How confident are you on the phone ? Screw emails, call them. Or even better if you are local call in and see them, take your motor sport portfolio and any other ammo you have, copies of recent newsletters etc. Try and get some sort of figures on regular spare parts that are needed and push the fact that you have a captive audience and how much of a 'family' you all are. "Hi there, have you got 5 minutes to chat over a coffee, i'd like to ask you a couple of things..." Jeans and t-shirt, casual. Even go in to price up an ally box refurb for an RS2000 or something.
