Firefox keeps freezing for 10-15secs (every 2-5mins)

Recently, I installed the newest update on Firefox, since then I've been having one constant problem, the browser keeps on freezing.

I'm not doing anything that would overburden the browser, nor do I have any high CPU using programs enabled, it just freezes out of the open.

It happens every 2-5 mins for about 10-15 seconds.
I scanned my PC with Norton as well as Hitman Pro, none found anything, I cleared the PC with CCleaner and nothing helped.

Anybody here have the same problem? I never had anything like this, until that update.

I had the browser freeze twice even when writing this very thread..
Switching to Chrome is not an option for me as I'm too used to Firefox and its addons. :/

What version are you on? They may of updated something in the recent update which casuses crashing. Google the version number and any problems with it. You may have to switch to chrome until they release a update fixing it.

6.0.1

edit: I read the release notes and nothing seems to be showing why it's crashing as it is.

edit 2: It seems to be crashing mostly when I open new tabs by clicking on the bookmark links.

It's not only you, other are having troubles, they wouldn't put crashing in their release notes as obviously this wasn't their objective when updating it!

I just upgraded to Firefox 6.0.1 a couple of days ago. I am crashing left and right ever since. There are no updates available for any of my add-ons. What might be the problem? I had no issues until I upgraded to 6.0.1. Thanks. | Firefox Support Foru

Have you tried updating Flash to the latest version?

There's also a firefox profile that gets created somewhere in the user profiles folder. I've heard deleting that can help as some files get locked, so deleting them recreates the profile when you re-open firefox.

I've been having this since updateing to firefox 6, I had to pull up task manager yesterday and kill the process which was over 800,000k in the memory column.

I've just checked now and it's currently on 794,660k!

There's firefox 6 already? They are churning out updates way too quickly, that's why they are so riddled with bugs.

Firefox 3 came out in 2008 I think and firefox 4 came out last year which is a 2 year interval, so compared to the other firefox releases it is updating too fast.

I think it could be down to a addon doing a auto update check, and causing a memory leak somewhere due to poor code

That's like the IT Crowd, 'have you turned it off and on again?'.

People have claimed if you right click on the firefox icon and select 'run as administrator' the problem goes away.

Haven't seen a difference myself.

Somehow, the problem seems to be fixed, for now.
We'll see how long till it starts screwing up again.

Thanks for all the help.

edit: Or not.

I know you said you don't want to switch to Google Chrome but I recommend switching to Google Chrome, lol.

Here's an extension for Chrome you might like.
