![]() ![]() | transferring wordpress site / themes to different domain / serverhello exceem. just a quick problem which im trying to work around, but wanted to ask you're opinions first. PROBLEM: my dads hosting package on 1&1 sucks, and consequentially doesn't have the option for a mySQL database. Free Apple iPod | Want a free Apple iPod? | iMoose.co.uk which is hosted on one.com however DOES. i've only got 4 days off work to design this site to a basic working standard and the upgrade is going to take 2 days. SOLUTION AND QUESTION: can i easily design a site on perhaps imoose.co.uk/dadsite on my one.com server and then transfer it to my dads 1&1 host / domain. I HAVE GOOGLED and it says i can transfer servers easily, but because its a lot of time i wanted clarification from you guys. ALSO, i'd be using the paid theme Striking | Premium Wordpress Theme and wanted to know if it would carry over so that i'd only need to purchase it once.... thanks exceem eagerly await your reply james

| What to put... | Yes you can transfer mySQL databases, however, it can be a long winded process if you are new to doing it. So i would personally design the site, graphics, content etc and then leave the mySQL database parts until the end when you have a solid answer from 1&1 about whether or not you can create a database. When you buy a theme, you are given the files, images, css and everything needed for the site so make a back up of it and you can use it as many times as you need. I found this about 1&1 mySQL hosting: 1&1 Webhosting FAQ | How to create a new MySQL 5 Database I think there is a option to create a database, it just may be hard to find! EDIT: Guide to transfer database to 1&1: http://faq.1and1.co.uk/web_space__access/mysql/14.html http://faq.1and1.co.uk/web_space__ac...myadmin/3.html

![]() ![]() | thanks, must spread rep tho. can i just not use this to transfer from one to the other? Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex ...and about the creating a new mySQL on 1&1, unfortunately the package at the moment doesn't even support the option of one, let alone creating a new one. you've put my mind to rest about the paid for theme tho. thanks

| What to put... | Yes you can use that, but you said 1&1 doesn't support databases so how would it be possible? You see what i mean?

![]() ![]() | ah ok. sorry, i didn't explain myself well enough. 1&1 do support mySQL, but the package which my dad presently has doesn't, BUT it will be upgraded in 24-48 hours to a package which does support the mySQL database option.

| What to put... | Ok well then you should be able to do that. Set it up on your site and transfer it over when completed and that's it. If you have trouble transfering the mysql database then just create one and install wordpress on your dads site then simply upload the theme to wp-content/themes (via ftp) and then activate the theme and it should work.

| Free The Gadgets | Can't you just install wordpress on your Dad's hosting, then transfer just the theme over when complete? No need to transfer the whole wordpress installation/database over!

| MJ lady with maracas | You could have just used the mysql remotely, would have added some time to page load time but would have worked
