Need help resizing hi-res image

I have an enormous 33.7Mb jpg i downloaded of the Milky Way as seen from Earth through about 50 different telescopes combined - its truly stunning!

Anyhoo I want it as a 1920x1080 wallpaper but the current dimensions are 15204x1420 (i know, right!)

Does anyone have the software, know-how and inclination to help me with this as I wouldn't know where to begin?

As you can see it's currently rectangle shaped and the first 1/3 of the image (horizontally) can go as the beautiful part is on the right anyways. I'd like to capture the galaxy and the sun setting with a bit of land too, if 1080 isnt possible anything with that aspect ratio would be fine.

Use something like picnik and then save as and chose dimensions.

If pic is as you say, 15204x1420 then it's impossible to make wallpaper with whole picture..the only way is to crop part of it because width is huge and height is small.

You can download Gimp which is very powerful jet free open source pic editor (alternative to Photoshop) and you can easily crop it or resize it..or whatever else you want

i dont mind cropping it. the picture is above in the spoiler.

but its just that i dont have the knowhow to do this plus im currently using a tiny laptop with not enough space for software while my pc is in the shop

i was hoping there'd be people with such software already installed who could do it without too much trouble, as i only want one picture theres no point in me really learning a new software anyhow.

also i may take a look at gimp or picnik but its an awful large image. btw in case you havent seen it yet check it out its stunning!

Is essentially the closest thing cosmologists have to a map of the entire universe, and was put together just by charting sounds coming from space.
