Happened to me a few years back. It was out of warranty by a year, but Sony still fixed it for free.

It's worth calling them up, you never know...

Took about 2 weeks max. They take it so seriously.

They send someone round with an aluminum briefcase, and then put gloves on to put the PS3 in this case, and then you have to sign some disclaimer saying that the collector hadn't damaged it in any way!

The attack has begun, MW2 killed my PS3 40GB but I managed to get it fixed by Sony (caused the blu-ray laser thingy to stop working).

you sure its not ylod? cos this can be fixed. youtube it and youll see videos.. someone i know had their ps3 die on them while playing gt5. YLOD, they then repaired it and took it to a game shop and sold it lol while was still working. then used the cash towards a new unit

I know you have just said it's not,, but are you 100% sure its not YLOD, cos I thought mine wasnt, but when i turned it on and pressed the power button, for a split second I got the yellow light, then red.

I fixed mine just last week and is pretty easy to do, of course only if it turns out yours is YLOD

Why Black Ops? It's 1 million times better on the 360, stick with bad company or Medal of Honor on the PS3. Also call Sony.

To me it sounds like the YLOD, i had this and when you turn it on it appears to boot up then bleeps 3 time and then flashes yellow and then stays red as if it was on stand by.

This only happens to the old bigger PS3s and i'm sorry i don't think it can be fixed. You can ring sony but i can't see it getting anywhere, they used to replace PS3s with the YLOD for free years ago but recently they stopped doing it due to people abusing it, you will have to pay a fee to get a refurbished one, i think it is like £130. I know a few people that got this problem in the past few years and the same outcome happens every time.

my ps3 broke 2 months ago it was a old 60gb ps3, it lasted 4 years then it died with the ylod 2wice, the 2nd time it wasnt fixable as the motherboard was messed up, but the problems your having i never heard of before, you can take your one to a repair shop which might help or if you do want to get rid of it open it up compeltly and check that all the ribbon cables and blue ray cables are connected propely as just a last try.

i sold the ps3 for parts and im going to buy a ps3 slim either this month or next
