When a LCD monitor just shows a blank screen

...and no image from the PC, or no image of it complaining there is no signal etc, what part of it is broke?

For some reason mine just decided to break this evening and seeing as its out of warranty seeing if its worth fixing it myself (if thats possible) or just having to make do with a old 15" one for the time being

Some of these suggestions may sound silly but bear with me and give them a try:

- Check everything is connected properly.
- Monitor is on and not asleep.
- Monitor settings are correct.
- Does the computer POST/bleep when it starts up? (If so then it is no the PC).
- Try unplugging all monitor cards, video cards ect. and plugging them back in.
- Update video card drivers.
- Turn the pc off at the back using the black switch, which is should reset the signal.
- If all fails then try plugging the monitor into another pc.

Because if it works with another PC then it may be a problem with your PC, i know you said another monitor works with the PC but it may be that it doesn't require as much considering it's your 'old' one.

I've had this a few times but never remember how I fix it! First of all test it on another PC to see if the monitor is dead or not. If it's alive then update your graphics drivers on the PC it's not working on.

The monitor does not even display its own splash screen, nore the message box complaining about no video input, nore does it work on my pc, Emmas pc, the 360 or the laptop. Going to take it to bits and see if I can see any burnt out capacitors etc

Sounds do me like it's gone then What was you doing when it died? Also do you keep it on 24/7?

If you decide to take apart then all i can say is good luck putting it back together!

Yeah, I second it. It's not impossible but it is a pain in the tail (for an encore try dissasembeling a laptop then putting it back together, suddenly a monitor is a piece of cake! lol)
