![]() | Which Processer?Hi, I am currently looking at building my own PC. The main use of this PC will be gaming and normal everyday usage. I have been looking at two processors and I am not sure which one I should get. I have narrowed it down to the two I believe are fast, powerful and good value for money. 1) Intel i7 920 2.66Ghz 8MB Cache- This has become one of the standard i7 processors but its still is very powerful. Overclocking can take it to a potential 4.5Ghz. I saw them recently going for £170-190 2) Intel i5 2500k 'Sandy Bridge' 3.30Ghz 6MB Cache - This is the next generation of Intels i5 processors. Many computer magazines recommend this processor due to the speed and value. They have rated this very highly, which is why I am considering it. It can also be overclocked to 4.5Ghz. In terms of price it is very similar to the one above. I am leaning towards the i7 just because its an i7 which is known to be more superior to the i5 lol. But this new i5 has really shown that it is faster and more powerful than the i7 920 and its near enough the same price. Im sure not many people would even notice the differenct when using the computer. Which is why I am asking for your opinions. Thanks |

![]() | Go with the i5 and spend the $$$ you save on a nice water-cooling rig to OC it to the max! *is still on a Athelon64X2* |

| Mini Mac | Yeah go with the i5. However if price is a big factor, you should consider AMD. |

| Free The Gadgets | Yep the new i5 looks good, go with it. I know it's tempting to go with the i7 just because it is an i7 but the new i5 looks like it performs better! @Ojaser - Intel kicks AMD ass!

![]() | Thanks for the help guys. Do you think that the cpu cooler that comes with the i5 is good enough considering I will also have a 1gb Nvidia graphics card that has its own cooler? I probably wont overclock just yet. |
