BIG problem with Laptop !

Well , the laptop is not booting Windows (XP).

I've tried to boot Linux on it and try to fix it but it don't even boot for CD ROM

and when i want to change the first boot device, the laptop won't . I can't press any button unless the power and the eject ones.

Do you have any suggestions ?

It's just not playing Windows at all or what?

If you still got the Windows CD (..and want to keep Windows) I suggest you go to the BIOS and there's an option there and it will say the names of your HardDrive, the DiscDrive etc.. And then you have to put the DiscDrive at the top and put the CD in and then restart your PC.. It should take you to the installation process.. But I'm not exactly sure.. I just saw my dad doing it when he was installing Windows 7 on his laptop..

@Madex I think it sounds like he's tried that and it's not worked

@the joker What had done with your laptop, had you tried to make it dual boot witn XP and Linux? Had it been working as a Dual Boot already, but now has stopped?

What's happenign when you switch it on, does it give any errors etc?

Well after the laptop starts . There is that "Acer" thing then i can't do any thing

i have tried to get access to BIOS but it won't ... I have also tried a dual boot ;nothing

I juste have 2 seconds before it stops, (tied F8 ,F12 ,F2 ,Del none working it's like it didn't detected the keyboard after the 2 sec)

can't even check if it's a HDD problem or not

I face this kind of problem twice in my desktop. I suggest you to contact you vendor, there is a motherboard problem. I am sure that the company will replace a motherboard of your computer if it is in warranty.

Thanks ... I'm going to get an iMac tomorrow.

It will cost me a lot to replace the motherboard (warranty expired)

Sounds strange that it doesnt even display an error message.

Did you make any changes the last time you were on it before you shut down?

Also Im guessing you probably already have but just unplug any USB devices or unnecessary attachments that could interfere with the boot process.
