How to Remove Overspray on Cars

Thought I would write this as one day somebody may find it useful!

So, you have been spraying something up near your car and come to find that specks of the paint have landed on your car, this is called overspray.

At first you might panic and start scraping at the paint with a sharp object, relax, you are in control.

You might see suggestions for using sandpaper or clay bars - these work but sandpaper will put the original paintwork at risk. I found the solution to be in a £3.89 tube from Halfords, Halfords Rubbing Compound.

Halfords Rubbing Compound is a cutting paste which will do no damage to your original paintwork if used correctly. (Buy it here: Halfords Rubbing Compound from Halfords Price £3.89 ).

What you need: Halfords Rubbing Compound, Bucket of warm water, Car Chamois/Cloth, Sponge, Towel/Cloth.

Directions:

1) Place your car chamois/cloth into the bucket of water and ring out so it is damp.

2) Apply a pea-sized amount of the rubbing compound to the chamois/cloth.

3) Rub the chamois directly onto the affected panel applying pressure & spreading evenly over the panel until the defect paint is removed (you may need to apply more rubbing compound if necessary).

4) Once all defect paint is removed wet your sponge and go over the area you have just rubbed to wash off any remnants of the compound.

5) Using the towel/cloth, dry the area you have just treated.

To get a great finish use a car wax/polish on the area you have treated.

My Results:

Before:

After:

Hope this comes in useful at some point

Could be anything. You may have forgot to mask a bit of your car off when doing touch up work, or you may have parked your car near a building which is being painted etc.

Every good body shop should have a tin or two knocking about.
Essential stock for a job done right.

Sorry for going off topic, please mods, forgive me!

I've hooked it all up fine, grounded it and put the remote cable to the amp (it's a sub enclosure, so has amp built into sub box.) and it just won't power up!
