Windows 7 and Movie Maker

Hi everyone,

I have a new computer running Windows 7 home premium 64bit, and the "old" version of movie maker I am used to isn't there!
MS have apparently got rid of it and released windows live movie maker to help "beginners" with video editing. It's complete rubbish - it doesnt' even have a timeline!

I want the old movie maker back, and was wondering if anyone knew where or how I could get my hands on the old Movie Maker 6.

Any help would be much appreciated

Would Cnet or download.com not have it? Or is it one of those things that you have to pay for if you don't get it with your OS?

Nope, its not there. The only one they (cnet) have is 2.6, the old XP one.
I don't think you can buy it either..
It just seems wierd that it was on vista and then its not on 7... and annoying!

Its such a step back its unbelieveable!

Why not have a look and see if there's an opensource alternative?

Not quite what I was looking for: "Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista version of Movie Maker." --> I'm looking for that "vista version" they're talking about.

But thanks for making the effort, and il be using 2.6 until I can find the later version
