Is this good

LG - DRT389H 1080P Up-Scaling Digital TV/DVD Recorder: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I want to know if taht's any good for recording off a PS3, it looks fine and I'm not worried about buying discs.

A few questions:

1) Will the quality be any good after having to rip it from DVD, and can anybody advise a good program that'll let me do this?
2) Will it be fine recording off the PS3?
3) Is there anything better that's cheaper?

Just seems like a standard dvd recorder with upscale capabilities. I dont know if there are any cheaper.
i dont know if you will be able to record your ps3 without looking at the back. Will prob have to connect ps3 to it and then play through that.
Slysoft clone dvd is an excellent dvd copying program which i use.

1) slysoft colne dvd is the program to rip your dvd on to the pc.
2) Without looking at the back of the box to see what connections it has you may not be able to record the ps3 in high quality. It will most likely have a scart input but not an hdmi input.
3)it looks very standard as its just a dvd recorder (no hard drive) so you may be able to pick up a cheaper one somewhere, although i havent looked.

Ah, thank you.

I've just been thinking about it you know, and seen as though my computer isn't anywhere near my PS3 it's a problem to use dazzle or any other capture card.

FreebieDen is also messing me up, if I turn out to be reviewer for that, then I can't get this straight away (because I'll need stuff to review) I'm not saying I mind, it's all good in the long run. It's just nice to know what's going on.

Thought you might be interested to see these, as I record my PS3 footage with a DVD recorder and rip it to pc:

This is my most popular vid so far, before I learnt the best way to rip and convert:

This is one I converted when i'd found the best settings:

The quality is alright, and I can recommend good software for ripping from DVD. If you chose the DVD recorder you would probably get better results than me as I am just using an old dvd recorder I found in the attic :P

Anyway, have a look and If anyone wants to comment, rate or subscribe i'd be chuffed

Cheers, Moofassa
