| iPod Nano 4GB | iPods vs all other MP3 playersIt's my brother's birthday coming up and I am looking to get him an mp3 player. He has an obscene amount of music so I am considering the 160gb ipod. I've always been a bit sceptical about iPods tho and am not 100% convinced after hearing horror stories about ipods packing up willy-nilly and typically, just after the warranty has expired. I've had a sony mp3 player for a few years now and I've never had a single problem with it. Plus it's a drag and drop player which makes it all much more simple. The only thing that is making me consider an apple product is the huge capacity and great value for money considering the storage space. Plus if i did get the ipod i would like to get it engraved as it's his 30th but am aware this effects returns. Basically, what I'm asking is, do you think a 160gb ipod is worth it or should i sacrifice storage capacity for a possibly (or maybe even probably) more reliable product? And if i go for the ipod should i take the plunge and get it engraved? Buy Sony NWZX-1060B MP3 Walkman, Black, 32GB online at JohnLewis.com- the other mp3 i'm considering. |

| blah blah blah | I can't really comment on the horror stories but all I will say is that my first freebie in 2005 was a 30gb ipod and I still use it daily. I guess there will be horror stories with most gizmos.

| iPod 20gb | i am the same as your bro. got sh*loads of cds etc and have put them all on my ipod which i use daily at work as well as in car instead of using cd's so would highly recommend it. as for engraving thats such a nice touch if its a prezzie. |

| iPod 60gb | Also, if he has THAT much music, he will want his music to be synced to his ipod, he will not want to drag and drop, so that shouldn't affect your decision!

| iBook | yeah, deffo the ipod... 160gb is much better than 32, and i think you should engrave it as i doubt very much there will be a problem with it |

| iPod Nano 4GB | Thanks for all the tips. Looks like the ipod wins really. I was leaning to the ipod but I just wanted to make sure before I parted with the best part of £180. |

| iBook | Yeah definitely get the iPod, I have an 80gb Classic and I love it, enough room for my movies and music and very easy to use. Also as for the drag and drop feature, in my opinion it's a lot easier to sync the iPod with iTunes, then you can just plug it in and it does everything automatically rather then you having to add more songs manually.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've had an iPod, iPod nano and 2 iphone (1st gen and replaced it with a 3GS) in the last 5 years and never really had a problem with any of them. Gave my iPod to my uncle who still uses it (it's 5 years old now), I've had my nano 18 months (to use with radio transmitter in my car), never had a problem. My other uncle has my first iPhone which is 2 years olf and only ever had one problem where it crashed once (just restored with iTunes so only small Problem). So easy to use, good quality products, just would not use any other MP3. Also can't see myself ever using anything other than iPhone. So much better than any other phone i've ever had. I would go for the iPod every time. |
