WEP adapter help needed please

I installed the D-Link DWA-140 wireless adapter on my computer and when it asked which encryption I wanted I chose WEP instead of WPA.

It said WEP is a new system whcih doesnt require any passwords. Instead you press the button on the side of the D-Link router and it confirms the signal on your computer and you never need to do it again.

The problem though is that during the setup my home network SSID was changed from "dlink" to "dlink6354" or something like that.

And ever since then, the only computer that can connect to it is the one using the WEP adapter.

I need to revert my home network back to one which doesn't use WEP, because I only have the one WEP compatible adapter in the house.

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks

I think you mean WPS(Wireless Protected Setup) not WEP.

To change it simply connect to the router using an ethernet cable, type in 192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your browser and press enter.

When you are asked for Username and Password enter admin for username and leave the password blank. Click next.

Click on Wireless Setting/setup on the left hand side. Scroll to the bottom of the next page and choose Manual Wireless Setup

Switch off WPS and then fill in the details you want for your network. CLick Save settings and then you should be able to connect any PC using the old style connections by searching for network name and entering the wireless key
