![]() ![]() ![]() | Power out when playing PS3Our power went out momentarily whilst I was on my PS3. It just went off then back on straight away but it was enough to have my TV switching off and straight back on and my PC to restart. My PS3 however seems not to have been affected as I was still at the same place in the game I had been when the power went off. Is that right, the power outage was so short it hasn't effected the PS3 as it has some stored for such cases. |

![]() | Weird question, maybe that's the case but if you quickly flick the power switch off and then on, does the same thing happen ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | The PSU might have a smoothing circuit in it, which if I remember right is just a bunch of capacitors that store the electricity. So the store might have been enough to keep it switched on.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Ye its probably not good for the console if the power goes out so suddenly, so they probably thought of this by adding some kind of reserve - probably just enough for the machine to turn off safely. My guess is that another second of power loss and it probably would have turned off. Thats one of the reasons why i love using laptops - I havent used a desktop in years. I never take my laptop out of my house, but its handy having a battery because the only thing that happens with a powercut is the screen goes dim. |
