How do I set up an AutoBlog?

Hello everyone

I am after some help as I am a complete novice on blogging.

I have heard that I may be able to set up a blog that automatically updates the content from RSS feeds but even though I have searched Google intensely I still can't find how to do it.

Does anyone know how I would get a Free AutoBlog script and how I would implement it?

Any help is greatly appreciated and I know how to use the "REP" button for anything I find helpful

It's easy enough to do using wordpress but you need the script for one first as you said.

I got mine from a source which I'm not really allowed to talk about.

I think the actual plug-in was called wp-o-matic or something to that effect.

cron fails every time on wp o matic. Untick the Unix box on options and it will use WP to pull the feeds.
wp o matic 2.5 (?) should be out soon and that should work.
Use feed wordpress for now.

Is there anyone on here that can just run through all that in English for those of us who have no idea about autoblogging?

1. Get a wordpress blog.
2. Host it yourself, a [url=http://www.whatever.wordpress.com] blog won't work
3. Install one of the many plugins that will enable rss feed posting (Feed Wordpress, Syndicate Wordpress are just 2)
4. Find the feeds you want your blog to display
5. Add them to the plugin's options/set up page
6. Activate!
7. Watch your site get banned from Google for duplicate content
8. Pay for an autoblogger that spins or joins articles from rss feeds. This will produce gobbledigook that no-one will read, but google will be friendlier towards it and will index it.
9. Whack on a few backlinks to your main site.
10. Hey presto, a related site that will gain PR by using trackbacks and is full of links to your site.

Kind of 'grey hat' SEO. It will give you some help in the rankings though.

not strictly true, what most of them do is translate it into a foreign language and then back again.... some of the grammar is lost, but it isn't gobbledegook!!

hmmmmmmm... I would say off-white!!

When people set up blog farms to saturate keywords then it's a bit iffy, but a single blog??? a lot of people use content from the exceem rss, thats quite keyword rich!!

And alot of people have had their blogs and content removed...

If anyone wants to use eXceems content to autoblog the answer is currently no, though I am working on something for the future. Sidebar widgets on the whole are fine, but if in doubt ask me first.

You can have your hosting suspended and be banned from various providers with auto blogs.
