Question - MacBook

Hi

Not sure if this is the right area but thought i'd ask anyway.

Tomorrow, I'll hopefully be buying a new macbook and someone has offered to let me buy it through them so i can get their uni discount. I'll be transfering my 2 year applecare from my dead macbook to the new one (as confirmed with apple) but both laptops need to be registered in my name. The old one already is but if this person buys it for me, will they automatically register it in his name or not ?

Also, apart from the educational discount from apple, is there anywhere else worth looking into to purchase a macbook ? I'm after one of the white ones as its only a replacement and not bothered about spec too much but apart from pcworld, can't see many other decent retails.
