Website building

I worked in the IT industry for over 10 years, leaving in 2003, and it hasn't helped me one little bit. I have looked through many posts and in most cases I haven't a clue what most of you guys are talking about. Just shows how things progress I guess.

Can you tell me what software or language you have used to create your websites and how much it costs to host them please?

I have used only Frontpage in the past but unless it's something like C++ or Java I'll have a pop at anything.

In advance.....Thanks

CSS and HTML are the base codes for websites mate

I learned CSS by getting templates and manipulating them - And I also use Adobe Dreamweaver, I hate Frontpage

Just use Wordpress and there is tons of FREE templates, and you may even edit them. Thats the easiest way.

Thats if your just looking for a simple website e.g. a freebie site

Freebie sites dont have to be simple.

Don't use Frontpage!

The link in my sig has quite a bit of info as well for building websites.

The easiest way to learn HTML is buy a good book. It's really quite easy. If you just want to go ahead and build a site without learning anything, then just use a template. but if you want to understand what the template is doing, then you'll need to learn HTML and CSS as a minimum.

Saint, I'm not sure as to what your link refers, as it says I don't have permission...

You need to be an extra member to access it.

I agree that frontpage is not the way to go. Your site will end up looking nothing like it does when you design it. Dreamweaver is pretty good.

Dreamweaver can be pretty good. But for a newbie all it lets you do is drag and drop. The code it generates is usually pretty bloated with lots of unnecessary HTML/CSS, so if you don't know about code then you'll leave it in when it should really be changed.
