Question

Burning movies

Hey Guys

Got bit of a prob that I dont know how to solve:

My friend burnt me some movies on to DVD but I can't play them on my laptop - all i get is sound and no picture. So my friend told me to download VLC Media Player and then I would be able to view on my laptop. BUT what i really want to do is burn them onto DVD so that i can watch them on my TV. (DVD is inbuilt in my TV).
So what process/software do i use to get them burnt so i can view on TV????

Free-Codecs.com : Download K-Lite Codec Pack 4.3.1 FULL, K-Lite Codec Pack 4.3.1 STANDARD, K-Lite Codec Pack 4.3.1 BASIC : K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools

This should fix it mate. (the sounds no picture problem)

You would need http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-trial.php to convert them to DVD for watching on a DVD player.

Put the DVD in your drive, then open it to view the files inside, copy the .avi files to your desktop (or wherever) then run nero (or whatever dvd burner/converter you have) use the converter and burn it to a blank disc.

to convert my avi files to dvd but as mdnl says you will have to download the codecs first

Don't install the k lite pack!!
use VLC definatly.

I use Nero for burning but usually just burn avi to a disc for playback in my divx dvd player or xbox

Matt, what's wrong with K-Lite, I have installed it without any issues (as well as VLC).

Save yourself burning discs for the Xbox, it will now accept and play and avi on a USB stick (after the latest Live! update).
