![]() ![]() ![]() | Router ProblemsHey guys, Was wondering if someone could help me out with a router problem. The router is set up for a cable modem, it is connected to the cable modem via Ethernet cable, modem is connected to computer etc. The problem is, the router is connected to the cable modem and although the wireless signal is there on the laptop, when you connect to the wireless network, there is no internet connection. I think it may be a wireless home network. Anybody got any ideas or help?

| iBook | Re: Router Problemswhen you are connected to your router, you should have an IP address of something like 192.168.0.x (start > run > cmd > ipconfig) you should be able to connect to your router with a web browser using the routers ip http://192.168.0.x usually this is .1 on the end. You will need to log in to your routers home page, details should be in the book it came with. On there somewhere you should find a status page which will show if your router is connected to the interent or has an external ip address. is your modem connected to the router via a nor switch port on the back of the router or is there a port labelled WAN or something similar

| iPod 20gb | Re: Router ProblemsI had the same problem yesterday. i picked the router up on my laptop but it was saying local only. i rang virgin who gave me another number which was £1 a minute. which i rang and after 20 minutes of doing what they told me to do he finally said the router is broke and send it back to the person i got it from on ebay and buy one from the shop. I just put the phone down. Not convinced it was the router as i have my wii online with it i phoned netgear up and after about 5 minutes of doing what they told me i got the wirless working. Phoned virgin up after to say i wasnt happy that they sent me to a £1 a minute number and the person telling me the router was broke when in the end it wasnt. They agree to refund the call charge of £17.11 so all good in the end If yours is a netgear reply here and ill send you the phone number think its local rate not £1 a minute like the other one |
