Re: External Hard Drive

Western Digital My Book Pro External Edition 500GB HDD on eBay, also, Internal External Hard Drives, Drives Storage, Computing (end time 18-May-08 20:22:03 BST)

Go for it!

I really need to be getting myself one of these. It will either be the Western Digital, or the Seagate alternative (which is pretty much the same)

Re: External Hard Drive

i have the mybook but not the pro one. in general it's ok but i find it can be a bit slow over a network and the noise is pretty loud. I think the pro one takes care of some of these details... depends on how and where you will use it! I wish non powered HDD's were cheaper and bigger...

Re: External Hard Drive

I have 2 MyBooks (both 500GB - one silver, one black) and even side by side both turned on they're pretty quiet.

Go go go!

Re: External Hard Drive

I must say... after about 17 months, most people are complaining about their HD's corrupting :/ I think I'm gonna go for this:

Amazon.co.uk: LaCie Desktop Hard Disk 500GB USB2.0 - 7200RPM - 8MB: Electronics & Photo

Or something similar.

Re: External Hard Drive

I can't recommend any existing plug and play external harddrives but I can recommend buying a case and putting a harddrive in it yourself.

My external harddrive is a shiny metallic blue NexStar 3 case with a 250gb harddrive put in it.

It works out a lot cheaper this way if you're willing to put it together yourself. It isn't hard either - the case comes with easy to follow instructions and takes about 10 minutes to setup.

^_^

Do you mean buying an internal hard drive and sticking a case on it yourself? How would it connect to your computer? Still USB?
