![]() | new mac convertA couple of weeks ago I had a nice poker win and decided to cash out and treat myself to a new computer. Having read through the forum there seems to be a favourable opinion of macs so I decided after 12 years I would join the mac revolution. So far I'm really impressed. I've installed all my adobe softwares, an FTP prog and few other bits. I filmed a gig last week in London and iMovie let me put it straight on youtube which was awesome too. Anyway, just wondering if there's any software that's a must-have for my macbook. Also, is a mighty mouse worth it or am I ok with my £3 trusty ebuyer disco mouse. You can also adjust the weight of the mouse with... well.... weights I love Macs too! I have a Macbook and a PC, I think Macbooks are defo better than normal Windows. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: new mac convertHow much did you win btw? (If you don't mind me asking that is!) Also, what poker site was it on? Finally was it a multi table freezeout? Sorry for all the Q's - Congrats on the win! |

![]() | Re: new mac convertYup on pokerstars you can pretty much play against anyone in the world. It's one of the biggest sites. Right now, it's just turned 7am, I've logged on to stars and there are over 58,000 players online. As the day goes on that'll exceed 100,000 and at weekends even more. They have loads of different games in each flavour ........ Hold'Em, Omaha, Omaha Hi Lo, HORSE, Razz, Stud, Stud 8, 5 Card Draw, Triple Draw Loball. They have all the variants of each game - Pot Limit, Fixed Limit, No Limit. Plus so much choice in the types of ways you want to play the game ... Cash games, Stts, Mtts ... then 2 table stts, mtt freezeouts, rebuys, heads-ups, shootouts, satellites, guaranteeds etc etc etc. I'd say Stars is the best site around, though Full Tilt dooes come a close-ish second. |

![]() | Re: new mac convertI'd stick with the cheap and cheerful mouse... mighty mouse is overpriced! I'd advise any Mac user to get the following: Azureus - for those cheeky torrents AppZapper - for uninstalling nasty apps Garagesale - for easy pasy eBay auctions iSquint - for iPod movie conversion Stuffit expander - for unzipping archives VLC - what videos can't it play Toast Titanium - if you're serious about disc burning Note though that some of these programs aren't free |

![]() | Re: new mac convertseems ok here, try googling it. great little app, when you uninstall yourself you can sometimes leave behind large preference files and caches that hog up disk space. App zapper cleverly removes it all when you drag an unwanted prog onto it. |

![]() | Re: new mac convertoh right, fascinated to know why you prefer them. I found handbrake slower than isquint... and i use mac the ripper for dvds although sometimes struggle to know which chapter is which... And about transmission, i started using azureus and never went back, is transmission better? i.e. faster? |

| Call me Ben .... | Re: new mac convertTransmission is much easier to use and i really like how the download speeds can be seen while its in the dock - you don't have to open the app to see if something has downloaded etc. The other torrent programs i used were inconvenient and a pain to be honest. I've had speeds of 600kb/s max on transmission so am happy with that! Handbrake is much easier to use than iSquint, which I found very difficult to use. Handbrake was so easy anyone can use it!
