male to male vga cable will do the trick, for sound you will need a stereo jack to phono's or jack to jack lead.

have you got s video? what outputs have you got? most outputs will go into a scart. (well 3 wires, red, white and yellow which will then go into a scart)

wouldn't you get a better picture of HDMI? I have an apple macbook pro and it has a DVI slot on it. You can get DVI to HDMI cables from the Apple store or some electronics stores (maplin goons didn't have a clue what was happening)

I tried vga but found it wasn't as clear as HDMI. The main problem is HDMI is MEANT to take video and sound when you're dealing with tv's but most laptops have a separate audio out which, as quite rightly said before, you'll have to get another cable for.

Depends on your laptop really, S-video is good alternative.

(Which is best?? VGA or HDMI??)

Read up about this a couple of months ago because i wanted to so the same thing. You cannot connect VGA to HDMI via a cable because they are different signals or something. You can however buy a converter which i bought off ebay which converts the signal. Works really well and converts the audio at the same time which is a bonus. You can get one of those audio cables anywhere really - one of them being here...
