does it have built in GPS? or do I need to buy the attachment... also where can I get software that means I don't have to set the firmware back...

As far as I am aware Sony are not releasing a PSP with GPS built in. What they are doing is selling a package which comprises of a PSP Slim & Lite and the GPS attachment and software. I think this is what you are talking about!

Do you have a custom modified psp? there is a software called Go!explorer which have the map of uk and ireland but you will require the gps which can be purchase from your local store. I'm pretty sure the firmware for Go!explorer be 3.9 and also there were a hombrew mapping like tomtom by adding your own maps from google.
