Cables

Hi, I want hook my lcd tv up to my tv. I'm looking for a decent/but cheap VGA cable and a cable for the sound (5 metres). Also, I'm using my 360 with the VGA cable, and my monitor for the pc is hooked with the VGA connection. Is ther anyway I can find a solution to conecting everythin up without having to unplug the pc monitor and the 360? Asked this on the Av forums but didnt get a reply.

Thanks.

Re: Cables

you can get a gadget for PCs which lets you switch different computers between a set of monitor, keyboard and mouse, you could obviously just not plug in the last two. it's called a KVM look for it on any decent computing site.

Re: Cables

Won't let me edit. I basically need a 5M VGa cable for now, of decent quality so I can watch HD videos on my LCDTV via my PC. I also need a cable of the same length for the sound.

Ahha, hey mate. I am using the same method. I have my pc hooked up to my monitor and my 360 hooked up using VGA cables. But this is the magic

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-way-SVGA-VGA...QQcmdZViewItem

It's a VGA splitter box, which you can search on ebay. Basically you need to find a VGA cable with 2 male ends on each side, male ends are basically the ones with the pins sticking out. You can get this cable from your local comp shop or from the net. Then you use that to connect the monitor to the splitter box. Now on the back of the splitter box you have 4 more vga slots, which you can plug your 360 into, your pc into etc.. etc.. and all you have to do is switch the knob from a to b to c to d to switch from gadget to gadget

I recommend people do this if they have a TFT at home, yet dont have a HDTV. Works a treat I may post some pics later on.

and for the sound on my 360 I use my amp

Re: Cables

Thanks mate This will definitely give me Hd viewing, also do you lose any noticable quality usaing the splitter box? Last of all what about a sound cable?

Cheers.

Re: Cables

Not really, none that I had noticed. And for the sound cable it depends on what you needed sound for. If for the 360 you said you had the VGA cable? Well there should at one end the plug for the 360 and the other end should be the VGA plug plus a red/white wire. Well, there are different ways of doing it but I just plugged those 2 red/white cables into my amplifier. I actually may take a video just to clear things up for you later.

Re: Cables

If you don't have one then yes, you would need a VGA cable for that tv.
