having problems accessing some freebie sites

when trying to access some sites, including

http://www.gameconsolegiveaway.co.uk/
http://www.freebiepcs.co.uk/
http://www.freebiemp3.co.uk/

they always time out. they use to work perfectly though. I've tried them under FF, IE and using different computers (but on the same ISP - SkyBB).

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

maybe just a problem with Sky while you were trying to access it. We all the pc's in your house? And Jon, is sky broadband any good? I hear it's around £15 for their highest speed which is 16mb? I think...

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

Why would Jon know? Granted he might by chance but not everybody has tried every isp.

Is that command prompt correct Jon? I typed it into mine to check but I get an error type message.

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

my mistake its tracert, original post corrected

as to the ISP it depends on what you need it for, I have never had any big issues with my ntl cable (apart from when a nearby building was hit by lightenting and it fried the green box on the street) and they dont have any download cap in place

i'm pretty happy with sky - I use to be on MetroNet (the PAYG one), but so far Sky's been quite good. My DL is about 10-14Mb. not had any problems so far - dunno if this is one yet.

here's the text from "tracert freebiepcs.co.uk"

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

hmm OK, I'll do that.

Any tips on any specific wording I should use? I know Sky have a support #, but this is probably best explained over email I think, so I'll check if they've got online support.

Thanks Jon!

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

just something along the lines of

I am having problems accessing a site www.....com while others on a different isp can access it just fine, I have ran a trace route to the site and it seams to time out at the following step, say you have deleted temporary files/cache/cookies etc and also tried installing a different web browser to no joy

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

An internet traffic router in Europe went down and did cause a lot of problems for people accessing my football site. It also affected 'YepItsFree' members, all seems fine now though.

I find it amazing how some of you guys have extra greens (I'm looking at YOU, Strider )

Yeah, contacted Sky - they're a bit confused. They said they may call me back or something.

Re: having problems accessing some freebie sites

T2 support got back to me - they still seem confused. They've no idea what's going on - suggested that I ask the site hosts to make sure their DB is up to date and that my IP isn't being blocked (which I doubt will work, right?)

Anyway, it's been upgraded to T3 now, so let's see what happens.
