PM Inbox for New Users

Newbies will no longer be able to send private messages untill they have posted a set number of posts, and been registered on exceem for a set period of time. I wont say the exact figures, but they are small and in line with what a few other forums I visit use.

Newbies will still be able to trade, but instead of pm'ing ref links they can simply be left in a trade comment.

just to update you guys

Due to the success of anti spammer measures taken, the automated bots have had problems joining eXceem

As a result the pm allowance for new members is now set to 5 messages, and this will then increase to the normal 75 after the minimum post & registered for a set number of days conditions have been met.

PM spam will not be tolerated, if you receive such spam please let me know

that sounds oh so very wrong.... maybe we should all leave and come back so we can post our current ref links in a live trading forum.

Maybe they should be able to send it via pm once they have been selected for a trade.. a button could come up on the trade comment section... as a reply to the 'you've been selected'

They should only be able to initiate trades... and therefore only able to accept offers until they have at least 1 feedback.

Maybe I have misunderstood......

I'm in the process of coding in separate fields into the trades system were ref links can be entered.

These would only be visible to mods, and the 2 people trading.

Due to a high week of people spamming I brought the time/post limit things forward.

hmmm the only problem is i'm halfway through a green for green trade with someone who has 0 post count, i have completed my offer but he hasn't, now i have no way to ask him how he is getting on..

I dont think you can receive Pm's because when i go on your profile it doesn't have anything saying "Send a private message to ...."

you can carry on the trade in the trades system

I believe that is fair and most other forums use it to stop freeloaders

As a 'somewhat' newbie myself, whilst I agree in principle...
it seems that the posting amount might encourage people to post for the sake of posting rather than add anything constructive to any forum.
Also, if the feedback here works anything like eBay's feedback system... well, if you've ever tried to build your feedback on eBay then I don't need to point out the problems there.
Just a thought.

We can check posts that people do though, and any that seem to be posting just so they have the 'right' amount to trade, we can delete if necessary!

wouldn't it be better if they could at least send a PM as a reply to a PM sent to them? else people might wonder why they don't get a reply.

Ive just a quick question about noobie trades,

If I want to trade and cause I cant pm any1 yet, Do I post my referral link in my trade details or wait till someone agrees they want to do it? As you say noobs can trade but have to post there link in the trade chat. I just want to know do I do it before or after?

Surely restricting PM's is going a bit far? theyr personal messages. It's not like they are hammering their ref links all over the forums

its a simple effective solution to the spammers who just join exceem to spam their sites, the requirements to access pm's are easy but just enough to put the spammers off.

Meaning, I dont have to check my inbox everyday to find ref link, and please for trades and helps from people who havent taken the time to read through the forums. Then feel guilty if you report someone.

So, I'm all for restricting PM's
