Well, i've actually bought a Tiffany Necklace for the mrs, and there is considerable difference in quality from cheapy style jewellery and the authentic Tiffany & Co. stuff.

But as with most things, you pay for the branding as well,

Depends on how pure the silver is. The higher the carat, the purer the metal (silver, gold whatever) the more expensive it is.
