We have received several complaints about some people who are overally encouraging cancellation, or in some cases fraud. We would just like reinforce the fact that we don't tolerate people encouraging use of offers in this way. For example, some people are suggesting cancellation before receiving a DVD on Lovefilm, or withdrawing money straight after depositing on gambling sites...

It has come to our attention that the promotion of offer cancellation for our Real Incentive Network is among many methods of advertising.

Last month we had 60% of our lovefilm signups reversed and we think it is mainly due to this kind of cancellation talk.

Be warned:

This cannot continue, we do not allow the promotion of offer cancellation, i.e. FRAUD on our network, and im sure this is the same for each network / site out there.

Effective One week From now - Any Users promoting Cancellation / Fraudulent talk in their advertising will be placed on hold.

You are allowed to say that Lovefilm is the best offer because it is a free trial, but we don't want people saying 'choose the lovefilm offer as you can cancel before even receiving a dvd

We want this network to thrive on good publicity and honesty. We know that the majority of users do not promote this behavior, and so this is reiteration on the fact that when advertising, please make it clear that you must receive AT LEAST one DVD and have to play with money deposited to get credit"

I take it that telling people that once they have completed their trial offer on lovefilm that they are free to cancel, if they choose is NOT classed as fraud??

very good thread.

when telling people about LoveFilm on any network, i always tell them that it is a no-obligations free trial, but is highly reccommended that they take at least 1 dvd out. if they ask why, i tell them, its a trial of a service, why sign up if youre not going to try out the service? i was with ScreenSelect (originally intended to cancel at the end of the trial, but enjoyed the service) for 6 months and had over 40 dvds before i started running low on money and had to cancel.

i hope this helps people when explaining the trial, and offer to their refferals.

The lovefilm site itself says you can cancel after the free trial period.

I hope the above post might stop so many greens being put on hold and all the tantrums this causes!

Do you still get the commission if someone took up the lovefilm offer, rented 3 dvds then cancelled before the end of the trial?

What requirements does lovefilm give you in order to receive whatever commission it is you earn?

Im pretty sure you need to get at least one dvd and the sign up to be unique, ie not to the same delivery address as another account, same credit card etc

We receive commission if a user signs up, adds at least 10 dvds to the wishlist and receives AT LEAST one DVD through the post.

And of course, the user can't have already participated in the trial, and details must be correct.

When did Lovefilm start that then? I take it before they weren't checking the whole recieve one dvd thing?

They were before. We just felt it was time to make sure that these rules were clear. Afterall, if you promote cancellations without receiving then that person will not get credit anyway so there is no point.

all it takes is a quick look through ebay to see how many people are using the 'cancel after 1 day' line.

And I imagine thar Ri are not the only sitehaving this issue.. would be interesting to see comments from other site owners to see if they intend to follow suit.

The extended verification times presumably mean that the only losers in the deal will be the people who break the rules and have accounts go on hold?

should catch out the fraudsters! both those who encourage it and the perpetrators.

I have always wanted to use the word perpetrator in a sentence, and now I've done it twice!

we're hoping this warning will slow down the offer declines we get, meaning that less of you will find it hard to get refs and keep them. Meaning a better all around service.
