While he is new, there's also been quite a lot of threads going off topic completely, and as he's requested quite politely in my opinion to keep on topic, there's no reason to reply in such a way as both you and the icks did!

I have re-read my post and to be honest I cant see anything other than friendly advice. Yes, a few people posted off topic posts (including that naughty boy Jon, lol).

I know I might be biased but the_icks actually beat me to the initial post and said what I was going to say and I would have replied in the same way if I was told I was being "reported".

excuse me emma.. I am tired of newbies coming on here thinking they own the bloody site!! Yes he started the thread, fair point, but why ask for people to stop having a conversation.. his question had already been answered several times.. I have to wade through loads of irrelevant crap in threads I've started but I dont ask people to keep on topic.. that is the whole point of a diverse and dynamic site.

I stand by my opinion.. ban me if you like, and I will react in the same way next time somebody tries to tell me what I can or can not talk about.

Unfortunatly as a forum grows more popular, it will attract more newbies, and not all newbies know how to use the search button.

Another effect of forums growing is the "established" members like to go off topic a bit (this isnt just eXceem, its happened on all the forums I worked for and most of the larger ones I post in)

Its a case of give or take in both cases

I was going to reply to the thread since it did get reported, but Emma beet me to it! do agree that reporting someone for going off topic is a bit on the extream side, but can see the OP's point of view

Now go get posting in the spam area

lol ye i didnt mind at first, but there were so many posts and i kno many threads go off topic, but those were just were completely irelevant and pointless to the topic, completely random....and i did ask politely if it would stop because as i said i kept getting email alerts (and as im a "newbie" i didnt know how to unsuscribe).
nothing to do with being bossy, was just geting a bit annoying, and then your post icks was even more completely uneccessary and if anything you were the one trying to act like you can do what you want just cos ur a regular....not saying u cant but it wud be appreciated if u just accepted wot i said...

Even though I agree about people hijacking threads and posting useless crap on completely irrelavant threads, you can't expect us to post EVERYTHING in the spam section all the time. I mean some of the stuff we post is down to the situation and the theme of the thread, we can't recall everything that's happening on the main forum, in the spam area, because that's just (can't find the right word - sad ??)...

I think random posts are what's keeping this forum going, because if we had every noobie asking questions and one person answering them... (which would then result in a thread being useless) it would get boring pretty quickly.

I am completely hatstand, and maybe an acquired taste.... I say what I think, not necesserily in that order.

theres nothing wrong with sometimes straying off topic i agree with that.
but first of all, usually there is some connection that leads to it, whereas this one was just really random.
secondly, and most importantly, if the guy who created the thread (me) asks nicely if you could stop posting on the same off topic thing for reasons already listed, i see no reason why you couldnt just stop and instead try and be funny or wotever and post again?
And its not like i did it straight away, i did it after about 5 random posts.

im sure there are plenty of other threads you could have got involved in from that point.

And i didnt say there was any malice in your post, just said it was uneccessary.

I agree, this guy makes more sense than you the_icks in this thread, and is trying to follow the rules (and he's a newb!). Not quite setting the example you should be are you ........
