XBox 360 vs PS3

I guess this is the ultimate gamers question... which do your prefer?! Would also be very interesting to hear WHY you choose the console you did.

For those that own both then vote for your favourite of the two and again please say why!

I'm doing this for two reasons... 1: I'm tempted to buy one in Amazons bundle deals. 2: I think people on this forum will have a good view on this and it would be genuinely interesting to hear!

I've got both. My PS3 is amazing for playing games, Blu Ray etc. My xbox 360 and kinect are fantastic at collecting dust, have only ever played the thing twice.

Depends on what you want from it to be honest.

Xbox is great for the whole gaming aspect, live is better than PSN however it does require a paid subscription which doesn't bother some, they would prefer to pay to have Live than get PSN free, i don't see anything wrong with PSN personally.

PS3 has more to offer than the Xbox, has iPlayer, ITV player etc. Xbox does have a few added features but again the PS3 has the better ones.

PS3 supports blu-ray, used to be a bigger deal back in the day when blu-ray players cost a arm and a leg, useful for bigger games where Xbox would otherwise require 2 or 3 discs where as the PS discs are able to store it all on one (saves having to switch discs over in the middle of the game!).

Reliability? Xbox have been known to break very frequently, it still appears to happen on the new slim model but granted not as often. PS3's do break, more so in the older (fat) models though.

Games, both have great exclusive titles live Halo (not a fan), Gears of War etc. and PS3 has Gran Turismo 5, Killzone etc.

Game experience, the PS3 is capable of better graphics due to nature of it. Also PS3 supports 3D.

Kinect and Move? Kinect looks to be the better one of the two but i wouldn't let it sway your decision as i can't see it being the main source of gaming.

Price, Xbox is the cheaper of the two, to me it seems like you get what you pay for ultimately.

I am very tempted by both personally. I like Halo and don't have a need for a BluRay player as I have one... I don't do online gaming so no need for Live or PSN... I also like GT5 etc and if the PS3 is in 3D too...

As you can see, I'm dead centre between the two! But the PS may win it for me in the end! (Just need to wait for my Amazon Vouchers from work and their affiliate programme

)

PS3! Xbox 360 is rubbish, you don't have to pay to play online on a PS3.

Most of my friends have PS3's too so not much point in owning an xbox.

I am a PS3 fan myself. I don't play online a lot but like to every now and again so the free PSN is great. Also the fact I can use Lovefilm through the PS3 is great.

My brother swears by the XBox but he is a massive online gamer so I think it depends what you are wanting it for.

Always had a playstation and I think they're great, so when the Xbox came out I wasn't bothered at all always stuck with playstation. People say live is better than PSN but I'm not too sure myself.

Having played both there are hardly any differences pretty much the same now.
One advantage I can think of at the top of my head is that on xbox you can listen to your own music on the console whilst playing a game, you can chat by voice to friends playing different games, and you can send voice recordings to other friends. However on ps3 you can't do all these, but ps3 offers it's own features too so it's down to what you want at the end of the day.

Though I don't own any console, I'd surely get a PS3 just because of Blu-Ray and the wide range of available PlayStation devices which are available for connection like PSP and also the PS Vita.

I was a XBOX fan just because of the Kinect, but now, I think it would be quite foolish to go around dancing in front of your TV..

Why don't you just get the one that your friends have so you can play with them? It's all personal preference, they're both great consoles in their own right.

i have both and have not played my xbox in over 2 years. i think the communications are better on the xbox with the wired headsets even tho i have the turtle beach px21 which is considered to be a decent headset for ps3 but thats as far as it goes.

the ps3 is free to play online. is amazing for your bluerays and black ops and mw3 can both be played in 3d which is cool

... well I do, but none of us are gamers! I'm just interested to hear people's opinions, and since I've moved to live almost on my own I'm tempted to have a console I'll just use now and then (not online!)

The uncharted and god of war games on the ps3 are excellent single players. Oh, and heavy rain too.

I know a lot of people love halo on the xbox but it's all about the multiplayer. From the sounds of how often you're likely to play, not worth paying the subscription to play online.

I think as people have said it really depends what you're looking for.

I'd say go for PS3.

I chose PS3 back in 2007 due to reliability, looks, blu ray and free online.

I have since bought two more because of playtv and blu ray.

I have been tempted to buy an xbox since but having to pay for the console and then for online each year puts me off but also im not a fan of gears or halo and theres not much else coming out.
Loved fable but they seem to be focusing more on kinect and the next one looks bad

I do however like motorstorm, resistance, killzone, uncharted, littlebigplanet and infamous.
God of war was good and heavy rain but you could finish them on a friends console.

All my friends have Xbox 360, and they often play Fifa, so for me would Xbox be better, sicne i cant play with them if i got a PS3?
