Should I get a new laptop?

My current laptop, which is only 1.5 years old, is already going through a lot of problems. Here are my list of problems:
  1. My battery's broken
  2. The screen flashes
  3. Sound is buzzy when played
  4. Disc drive doesn't recognise some discs

What do you think? Should I get a new laptop? State your opinion!

I don't know what Canadian consumer law is, but after 18 months I would certainly be in discussion with the manufacturer.

But with the Canadians being such nice polite people, consumer law probably says just apologise to the manufacturer and buy a new one!!

I would certainly go down the customer service route..... there is the SADFART law in this country (google it) I would say 18months is unreasonable for laptop life, although you want to hope it has an international warranty!!

LOL . Actually not, as the stupid Chinese brand netbooks cost about $70-100 USD, with specs like 2GB memory, 160GB HDD, and 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom, so they will probably last about a week if not less.

And also I have a price limitation here, as my parents are already unhappy about my laptop breaking after only a short 1.5 years of use. Their laptops have lasted for at least 3 years, so they think the problem is with me.

Plus, I need it for school, so I need one quickly. The new MacBook Air would be nice.

It did, but please emphasize the past tense. Warranty's gone, only lasts 1 year.

Doubt any of them will work. Anyway, if I do get a new laptop (or netbook ), what do you recommend? It can't be pricy, because my parents won't accept it.

I prefer USD, but CAD is fine too. So is RMB (Chinese currency).
