I have never tried a mac not ever so cant comment on that but i chose pc because with windows 7 micro$oft has finally got it right.

linux ticks a lot of boxes and has huge support but i like to play games and linux with the help of wine and other programs can play some games that are made for windows but not all.

I might be tempted to duel boot windows 7 and linux together but windows 7 does everything i need so i don't see no point.

You'll change your mind when you try a Mac. And you'll know how good linux is when you lose a 2 months work because of a virus

Of course all of them are incredible and choosing between Mac and Windows has never been fair. Enjoy whatever you have !

Hello ElectroGirl,

I will tell you from first hand experience, all of my systems have been converted to Windows 7. I am not just saying it to say because I am affiliated with Microsoft. I can truly stand behind this product and tell you straight away it works very reliably, fast and extremely stable. The 64bit version is a real powerhouse as well.

Anyways, what to say about Windows 7?

I voted for PC. Never owned a Mac and never will, they are way overpriced. I'm sure they're very nice but i've never had any problems with my PC - it does what i want and that's good enough for me.

Yeah, ummm, really sorry for bumping such an old topic, but I really couldn't resist it...

Has anybody here ever heard of Hackintosh? It's just a regular PC that runs Mac OS X. I'm using one right now, and I think it is just as capable as a real Mac is, yet it's so much cheaper. The only downside is that you're gonna break Apple's T&C.

It may be just as capable, but is it as reliable?
Mac is able to have a dual boot of windows and mac OSX on one machine.
You can even drag and drop between.

The fact that the hardware and software are both made/put together by Apple, means better results.

But then with that said, the cost of a Hackintosh might outweigh all that!

Look at these:

People rave about Mac, no virus`s etc.... no virus`s as they dont have a big enough slice of the action for the virus writers to bother with, if sales go up then so will the virus`s and problems.
No doubt one of Steve Jobs fan boys will get really upset with that remark and give a long uninteresting reply that I wont be arsed to read

In case you cant tell.......PC

Don't normally reply in threads like this, but this one has annoyed me. I'll keep it short and sweet

To me, viruses are a small small advantage to choosing a Mac over a PC, but definitely not big enough to sway a decision! Sure, it's great being to download anything in a .app format and running it safely. No need to faff around with a firewall like you would on a Windows PC... but if you liked PCs enough you could easily live with having to use antivirus and firewall software.

Slice of the action?! Who cares about slice of the action? Use what you want to use, not what most people use. Who cares about the herd?

I've been a Mac user for about 4 years now, and will never look back (except for when testing websites in IE, but I rarely even have to do that these days.) But I didn't choose it for the viruses. I chose it for the OS.

Cefca is a jewel in the rough
There are (and have been for years) viruses made for macs, so even that advantage is becoming irrelevant. Sure there aren't nearly as many viruses as for PCs but it only takes one to mess your computer up.

My post was aimed at the uneducated Mac fan, who 90% of the time has never even used one, but who drones on about them all the time because he`s been told they are the bee`s knees and will never get a virus or break down, the OS is very good on Mac but also Windows 7 is too (thank god Vista was a nightmare), im not going to argue over nuts and bolts as life is way too short.
I also rarely reply to these threads as instead of a debate on the benefits of each machine they turn into world war 3.
Probably my fault it went down the wrong road this time as I was that way out when I wrote the post (we all have our moments), anyway anyone interested in a new computer should do their homework and choose the horse for the course.

Ps Mac`s are crap .. haha just kidding

Chill world, its not worth getting stressed over!

I agree with what chigley said, originally i used to prefer windows until i got a mac and can't see myself wanting to own another windows pc. People may see this as the oppsoite way but that is just my opinion.

I really don't mind. A computer is a computer. Mac have slanted towards entertainment thou and thats probably the only reason I'll choose Mac over PC.

I was only joking with "I don't have to renew security every year...."
Its actually a lie, as I do have to renew my security, as I also use Windows 7 as well
