No. Everyopne is allowed to make mistakes, without expecting people to get annoyed with them

I hate text speak...what's the point? It takes more effort to look like a goon than typing out proper, legible words.

I am sure everyone who posted here has taken patience in writing what they said to avoid spelling mistakes, I misspell all the time, not because I mean too, but because I tend to type in a hurry, but there are people who generally can not spell and it's not fair to criticise them.

I don't get annoyed with people who can't spell, I get annoyed with people who want feedback and use 'Txt spk' to ask their questions. The reason I get annoyed with that is because they're saving themselves time while your wasting yours trying to help them and that's just blatant ignorance.

People who get 'annoyed' at others who mistype are just picky people and most probably will be for the rest of the lives, I guarantee others will talk about them behind their backs & joke about how serious they take pathetic things...

... lighten up, criticising someone who can't spell because of their spelling is a form of bullying.

Totally agree, it's not fair to criticise but text speak does my head in.

What if I say only a little? While spreading across the world and wanting to become an international language, english language took the risk of being deformed and modified by many groups of people.

I don't mind when it's obviously a typo or whatever but when it's text speak or just poor spelling of really simple words then that does annoy me. But poor grammer annoys me more.

There's no excuse for text speak, it's lazy and is used to try and mask illiteracy.

And there's no excuse for poor grammer either - confusing bought and brought, were and where, and Alisha Dixon always saying "you was really good" is just basic stuff!

Why not? It's probably because they've never been criticised for it that they have never upped their game and tried to improve their spelling - they just think it is acceptable to be unable to spell.

Come and work in my firm and see how long you last if you can't spell or grasp basic grammer. Employers don't want people who are lacking in even basic education. By saying it's unfair to criticise you are removing blame from people and removing any incentive for them to improve their spelling/grammer, thus perpetuating the cycle.

If you have a genuine reason for it such as dyslexia or not speaking English as your first language then that's one thing, but people to whom either of those apply generally want to work hard to improve their spelling/grammer. It's the people who are too lazy to do it or who say it's unfair to criticise who are the ones I have a problem with. Just because they couldn't be bothered paying attention in school or putting the hard work in doesn't mean they should expect other people to put with their illiteracy.

What really grinds my gears is when people randomly pluralise the names of supermarkets. My friend's mum does it badly, it makes me want to slap her and go "No there is no such ****ing thing as an Asdas."

It anoys me sure, but I know I make typos so don't get annoyed at others who make typos too. Also I know there are some young uns here to so doesn't metter if they get big words wrong!

The main thing that annoys me, which isn't just a typo, is "hence why"... it's just "hence" OR "why"!!

The mistakes that really annoy me are "there" "they're" and "their". Although I sometimes make mistakes, overall I am fairly good with both grammar and spelling. WHat really angers me is when I feel I have to use simpler language so that someone else can understand (if English is their mother tongue). An example is when me and my mates were playing football another group of people challanged us to a game. After a bit of discussion I said to them "Sorry, but the general consensus is no." To which I got a reply "What does consentionce mean?".
