Lmao. Rhys mate making an english version of a film is never the answer. Whenever they try to do that they end up ruining it. If an English version of Amelie came out i wouldnt even watch it cus it would be all Hollywood-ised and be over the top cheesy and rubbish. Plus the script was the best part of that film and they can't copy it word for word can they?

As for City Of God they couldnt even do an English version anyway because its set in Brazil and is about life in gangs in Brazilian slums.

But tbh when they make English remakes they always suck, and the studios know that a lot of their audience don't mind watching subbed films if the film is really really good, which a whole load of foreign films are.

To prove this point, have you heard of Steven Soderbergh's recent masterpiece "Che". Was made in two parts and was done 95% in Spanish despite it being an American movie - in other words they CHOSE to make it in Spanish to add the realism (because its set in Cuba during the revolution)

The only foreign language films I've ever watched with subtitles are Amelie and Dhoom 2, I found the subtitles distracting on Amelie and anything that makes you look away from Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2 is not a good thing!!

I've seen some dubbed Jackie Chan films and you don't really notice it that much, you get used to it pretty quickly.
