Hi, this is a poll for everyone who has a freebie website. Which form of advertising do you find drives most visitors resulting in greens to your site?

Real Life could be business cards / car stickers etc.

Internet... well goes without saying, SEO etc...

Internet based will always be better. I do plan on using some 'real world' advertising too though to help.

it depends how you advertise outside. my new website should draw a lot of people when i get it online on friday. i may pay sainsburys asda and tescos to put my business cards in the little slots. that should get a few greens in. (wishful thinking)

the thing with 'real life ' advertising is that people have time to think about then they have to go and log on to the pc etc by which time they could have lost/misplaced the leaflet etc and just google free ipod etc and could end up signing up for someone else , or they will look at it and think yea right and throw away without looking at the site.

with internet advertising its more of an impulse thing they click your link straight away and look at the site , fair enough they may decide not to go ahead with it but at least they have visited.

in 2 years all my referrals have been through internet advertising/methods except a handfull of refs from friends.
