| The SEO Adviser... | Re: 800 x 600 or higher?I remember when sites was best built around the old 800 x 600 standard, things have moved on now with better graphics cards etc. I'd say 1024x768 is the standard size to build a site in now days, good thread though, will defo help web designers out.

| iPod 20gb | I used to always design for 800x600, but I've moved up to designing for 1024. However, the thing to bear in mind is not just what screen size someone is using, but size the browser window is. Not everyone uses the browser maximised, for example people in work or at uni, or just with big monitors that don't want to fill the screen. By sticking to 1024, people will be able to resize their browser down to that size and still have quite a large browser window. Unfortunately it's not possible to gets stats on how many visitors have their browser maximised or not - that would be useful.
